Ever since the deserved success that surrounds Todd Terje‘s ‘Inspector Norse‘ release, the internet sure gets a little crazy when Norwegian re-appears with new material. If I’m honest, since that release, he’s been a little hit & miss for me. His latest, ‘Spiral‘ continues that trend, it starts of well enough, those who remember his ‘Tango Terje’ re-edits will love the intro, it just ends up being a tiny bit on the meandering side. Maybe it’s ironic, not sure… but it could benefit from having the sort of re-edit action Terje used to do.
It’s not all bad because, the b-side on this release is actually the a-side. ‘Q‘ is rather great, and contains the playful invention which separates Terje from the increasing pool of bland artists tagged with the ‘Nu-Disco’ genre. If you don’t like it immediately, you should find that it grows on you quite quickly…
