I think people know the drill, here are some truly awesome remixes. Mainly old this week because we’ve been keeping on top of things lately. It was only a couple months ago we were getting excited about recieving 200 visitors, now we’re getting 2000. Thanks to everybody who has been supporting the blog we are pleased you are enjoying the music!
Yesterday in blogworld it was “Royksopp day”, from the moment that Boys Noize teaser leaked in the early hours of the morning, to late on in the day when the real version hit with a few extra remixes to boot. Expect the internet to go crazy when the promo’s of Junior start to leak… it’s close to happening, real close . In the meantime enjoy this much underated Bjorn Torske remix of “Eple” it’s a reminder of how astounding remixes can be. Try and check some of Bjorn Torske’s original productions if you can. He’s highly reccomended for those who miss it when Royksopp sounded like “Melody A.M”.

According to Busy P, Daft Punk are back in the studio working on their new album but I think it’s fair to say it won’t be finished as soon as the last one was. Give it a few years. This recording from the bootleg Cochella CD is them mashing-up of “One More Time” & “Aerodynamic” it’s quite special and a reason why you should make a point of seeing them live. Check out the Alive CD and go for the special edition version as it’s much better…
♫ Daft Punk – One More Time (Aerodynamic Remix)
Cut Copy have done alot of really great remixes in their time, this one of the Mercy Arms will always stand out as it’s such a beautiful reworking of the track. You can feel the love, time and effort which went into this remix. This is the extended version which is just spoiling us really.
♫ Mercy Arms – Kept Low (Cut Copy Remix)
Like Cut Copy, the Bag Raiders have also done some really great remixes. Again I think they will probably struggle to ever beat their magnum opus of when they remixed the Midnight Juggernauts “Twenty Leagues Under” you can listen to it a million times and it still doesn’t get boring.
♫ Midnight Juggernauts – Twenty Leagues Under (Bag Raiders Remix)
One of Too Many Sebastians “finds” last year, as in we discovered them really late and way after everybody else, was M83 and their magnificent album “Saturdays= Youth”. We were slightly surprised that they did remixes too. This one of Van She’s “Kelly” starts off as a fairly descent remix but then turns into completly new M83 production in it’s own right. The amount of effort put into this one is quite astonishing really.
♫ Van She – Kelly (M83 Remix)
Too Many Sebastians were quite surprised at the lack of hype that surrounded Teenage Bad Girl and their album “Cocotte”. It was pretty damn good and seem to tick all the right boxes at the time of release. It was kind of unfortunate for them a small outfit called Justice released an album of similar sounds that year which often meant they were accused of copying them. A second album is on it’s way though and we hope that people will take a look the second time round. This remix is by D.I.M and is taken from the special edition of “Cocotte” it is one of our favourites.
♫ Teenage Bad Girl – Hands Of A Stranger (D.I.M Remix)
Freeform Five have been around for sometime in the dancey world and achieving moderate success, two of their albums “Misch Masch” and “Strangers Things” are still quite underated in my opinion. Perhaps they have a tendency of ruining some of their own songs, for instance when they added the rap vocals to “Eaaaaoooow” for an album it seemed a curious choice. This typically great remix of “No More Conversations” by Richard X gets the perfect balance between Pop & Dance and makes it sound all so easy.
♫ Freeform Five – No More Conversations (Richard X Mix)
The last Freezepop album, “Future Future Perfect” was somewhat of a disspointment for me. It just didn’t really match up to the hyper-active dance-pop fun of their previous outing “Fancy Ultra Fresh”, I’m pleased that they have gathered a dedicated (if scary) fanbase through their work in videogames (One their members works at Harmonix, responsible for Guitar Hero, Frequency e.t.c) but I hope their next release is a bit more fun. This remix is taken from “Form Activity Motion” a remix album of their tracks and is by Designer Drugs, it kind of changed my entire opinion about them as artists, I now rate them quite highly.
♫ Freezepop – FrontLoad (Designer Drugs Remix)
Okay, this an old, old, old, old remix from Felix Cartal of Mr Miyagi’s “Pick Your Poision” but it doesn’t stop it from being a whole bunch of greatness. It makes the whole track more aggresive and you can imagine Mr Miyagi being very pleased with it as are we.
♫ Mr Miyagi – Pick Your Poison (Felix Cartal Early Remix)
Late Of The Pier garnered alot of love & criticism for their debut LP and I was pretty much on the love side of things. Sure the album is a bit weird and all over the place, but it deserved alot of praise for not being the “Klaxons V.2.0″ like some stupid people said it would be. This remix of “Heartbeat” by Hot Chip turns the track into some dancerific monster which I would’ve not expected from them.
♫ Late Of The Pier – Heartbeat (Hot Chip Remix)
Alot of people have said Van She Tech have gone quite sour with their remixes of late, I guess this remix they did for Shinichi Osawa of “Maximum Joy” should keep their mouths shut for a little while at least. Have they dropped the “Tech” recently?
♫ Shinichi Osawa – Maximum Joy (Van She Tech Remix)
I really hope by the end of the year I am blogging something about The Twelves new album, they can do the remixing for sure but I want to hear more of their own productions at some point because the early signs are more than promising. This remix by Juan MacLean compliments their sound so well. No entirely sure about the vocal though…
♫ The Twelves – Be My Crush (Juan MacLean Remix)
That’s it folks. More next week probably… if you’ve enjoyed the remixes remember to say hi. It takes a while do this kind of post . More importantly check out and support the artists involved! They rock!
