Remi Sorbet – Through The Leaves

Remi Sorbet is a 19 years old producer hailing from Saint Louis, USA. He recently released his debut album, “Through The Leaves” via WeAreFarfetched. When I saw the words “R&B/Jazz-eque” in the email he sent me, I thought it just wouldn’t be my thing. However, after listening to the whole album, I realised I was very wrong. He is one of those genre-crossing producers, genuinely impressive considering his age.

Anyway, here are some tracks on the album that I like….

Remi Sorbet はアメリカのセントルイスの19歳のプロデューサー。彼は最近WeAreFarfetched からデビューアルバム、“Through The Leaves” をリリースしたばかり。送られてきたメールの中に”R&B/Jazz-eque” という言葉を見た時は、きっと私向けじゃないな、って思ったんですけど…チェックしてみたら大間違いでした。彼は色んなジャンルのボーダーを飛び越えて素敵なサウンドを作るのが得意で、年を考えると感心しちゃいます。それではリリースの中からお気に入りを紹介します。

“Joyride To Oblivion” is easily my favourite. The marching band intro really didn’t make me expect such a nice melody that comes after. It’s just… pretty amazing.

“Joyride To Oblivion” は個人的に断然1位なトラック。行進曲的なイントロからは想像できない様な素敵メロディーが後半やってきます。とにかくとーっても素敵なトラックなのです。

“Olive Green” is an interesting one. I was slightly put off by this wonky sounds in the beginning. Although, it really was worth waiting until around 2:00, where it suddenly goes into a crazy tropical mode, which definitely has similar vibes to Logo’s self remix of “Merit”.

ちょっと面白いのが“Olive Green” で、始めの方に聞こえるグラングランした音には、ちょっと…、と思ったんですが、2分辺りまで待ってみて下さい。ガラっと変わってちょっぴりクレイジーなトロピカルサウンドが炸裂。そしてこのトラック、Logo の“Merit” セルフリミックスと似た雰囲気がとってもします。

The title track “Through The Leaves” is also something not to miss. This is what I’d imagine would happen if Clark and Shinichi Osawa made a track together. You may think that sounds a little weird but, it really works.

タイトルトラックでもある“Through The Leaves” は、勝手な想像ですけどClark と大沢伸一が一緒にトラックを作ったらこんな感じかな、ってなトラック。想像つかないかもしれないけど、これが上手い具合いに出来てるんです。

I strongly recommend it to fans of the artists mentioned above or if you like Rimer London and Siriusmo. You can check/get the package on his bandcamp. This is a “you decide how much you think it’s worth” release. If you enjoy it, don’t be too stingy : ).

上に出てきたアーティストやRimer London、Siriusmo が好きならきっと楽しめるはず。彼のbandcampで前トラックのチェック/ゲットが出来ます。このアルバムは定価がなくて、自分で値段を決めるリリースなんですが、もしも気に入ったらあんまりケチケチしないでほしいなぁ。
