We interviewed Italian mentalist disco duo Fare Soldi, as you will go on and read below it’s like that Frost/Nixon movie. But with much sexier consequences and no Kevin Bacon.

What inspired you to form and make music?
Once a gypsy woman read our hands and said “this is your destiny. La da dee la de da”.

音楽を作り始めたキッカケは?
ある日ジプシーの女性に手相を見られてこ音楽を作る事が運命だって言われたんだ。

You guys are Italian, do you eat Pizza, hang with Crookers and save Princesses from Bob ‘Koopa’ Rifo? Do you do all three things at the same time whilst driving a Ferrari?
Princesses of today are smarter. It’s more usual that the Ferrari is theirs. So all we can do is just pass our evenings eating pizza. Crying.

貴方達はイタリア人ですけど毎日ピザを食べますか?あとCrookersと一緒にピーチ姫とかを助けたりしてるんですか？あと、こういう事をする時はいつもフェラーリに乗ってるの？
最近のお姫様達はもっと賢いよ。フェラーリはどっちかと言うとソッチの人間の物だね。僕らは毎日ピザを食べながら泣く事位しか出来ないよ。

Who are your musical influences?
Pavarotti. Oh, his eyebrows too.

影響を受けた人は?
Pavarottiと彼の眉毛。

Do you approach remix work differently from original work?
Yes. When we are working on remix, we never add garlic. We know not everyone likes its taste.

オリジナルトラックとリミックスではアプローチの仕方が違いますか?
そうだね。リミックスを作るときはニンニクは絶対に入れないよ。皆がニンニクが好きだとは限らないからね。

What’s been your most favourite thing to remix, who has done the best remix of you?
We always thought that so many people remixed us because they liked our songs, but a week ago we found this e-mail around on the net: “if you do a remix of a Fare Soldi tune and send it to 5 friends,you will have great fortune. Mary Rodriguez of Santiago, did a remix of Stambulia and sent it to 5 friends. 7 days after, her kitten came home after being lost for 12 years. Gunther Strasser of Hamburg did a techno edit of I Wanna Feel Collins, sent it to 5 friends and 2 weeks later he won the lottery. Francois Chevalier of Montpellier did a chill out version of Pompa o non pompa, but sent it just to 3 friends. He died 3 days after in an accident ,while changing sheets on his bed. Don’t underestimate the power of this chain.”

今まで作ったリミックスの中でのお気に入りとリミックスされた中でのお気に入りは?
僕らはいつも沢山の人達が僕らの音楽を気に入ってリミックスを作ってると思ってたんだけど、１週間くらい前に’もしもFare Soldiのリミックスを作って友達5人に送ったら幸せになれます‘っていうメールをネットで見つけちゃったんだよね。サンティアゴのMary RodriguezもStambuliaのリミックスを作って5人の友達に送ったら1週間後に12年間行方不明だった猫が帰ってきたり、ハンブルグのGunther StrasserがI Wanna Feel Collinsのテクノエディットを作って同じ事をした時も2週間後にロトが当たったり、でもモンとピーリアのFrancois ChevalierがちょっとリラックスしたバージョンのPompa o non pompaを作った時は3人にしか送らなかったから3日後にベッドのシーツ交換をしてる時に事故で亡くなったんだよ。これを甘く見ると痛い目にあうよ。

Which musician are you super-jealous of?
Ok, the time has come. Next summer at Ibiza everyone will be singing this track:

Oh, it’s not our duty. That’s what music industry majors are for.

それは僕らの仕事じゃないなー。音楽業界はその為にあるから それは僕らの仕事じゃないなー。

Your promotional artwork is pretty crazy/random, who creates it? Is it important to you present yourselves as being fun and not boring?
Oh no, the graphic department of Fare Soldi is the gypsy from question no.2.

貴方達のプロモーション用のアートワークは結構クレイジーな上にランダムですけど誰が作ったの?自分達を面白く見せるのは大切?
実はFare Soldiのアートワークは2つ目の質問で話したジプシーがやってるんだよ。

Does this mean actually in the studio you are super-serious dudes?
No, we’re very crazy while working in studio. Once we also had a coffee once. We still remember that day sometimes.

じゃぁ貴方達はスタジオではかなり真面目なの?
そんな事ないよ。スタジオで作業してるときはいつもバカな事やってるよ。ある日コーヒーを飲んだんだけど、その日の事は今でも覚えているよ。

*standard blogger questions* How important do you the think the internet is in regards to promotion etc?
Less than providing the discoveries of self-sex to many 13 years old in the Western World.

欧米の13歳の子達におかずを提供する事程大事じゃないと思う。

What can an audience expect from a Fare Soldi live set?
Sweat. Fun. Girls looking at boys. Boys looking at girls. Boys looking at boys. Booze. Screams. Kisses. More sweat. Moustaches, we hope.

Fare Soldiのライブセットではどんなものが見れますか?
スイートで面白い感じや、女の子が男の子を見つめてたり、その逆だったり、男の子が男の子を見つめてたり、お酒や叫び声、キスとかもっとスイートな事とか、髭とか。だといいな。

Do you guys plan to come play some dates in English speaking countries (real countries) like Australia, America and UK?
We went to play some gigs in California last march, and now we are taking other gigs around Europe and working to go to other places. Our mission on your planet is not over, yet.

オーストラリアやアメリカ、イギリスみたいな英語圏でプレイする予定なんかあるんですか?
去年の3月にカリフォルニアにギグをしに行ったよ。そして今ヨーロッパでギグもやる予定だし他の場所にも行く為にいろいろ考えてるよ。またこの星でのミッション終わらないよ。

Any further releases planned for the year?
We finished some remixes that will be out during this year. We’re always writing new material and maybe we will publish another e.p. this year. But, pay attention, just if you will eat all you spinach and after dinner you will clean your room, understood?

今年のリリース予定は?
今年中に出る予定のリミックスをいくつか作り終えたよ。新しいマテリアルはいつも作ってるしもしかしたら別なEPも出すかも知れないよ。でもこれだけは忘れないで、ほうれん草を食べた後は絶対に自分の部屋を片付ける事！いいね？

What do you prefer, a spy car that can flies or a spy car that goes underwater?
It depends. Where the best parties are? Above the clouds or in Atlantis?

パーティーが何処であるかによるなぁ。雲の上でやってるか、アトランティスでやってるか。
