Whitey – Canned Laughter.

Yesterday was April Fools day (lololololololol), I’m sure many funny things happened. April fools was also the day that Whitey released the long awaited follow up to his 2005 debut ‘The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is A Train’. Of course, there was ‘another’ album which leaked which meant Whitey lost his record deal, but we won’t go into that too much, it was a case of ‘bad internets, very bad internets’.

昨日はエイプリルフール。きっと沢山面白い嘘が飛び交っていたことでしょう。しかし今年のエイプリルフールはどうでもいい嘘だけではなくて、なんとWhiteyが2005年のデビューアルバム’The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is A Train’以来となる待望のアルバムを発売しちゃった日でもありました。その前にもリークしちゃってリリースが成立しなかったアルバムもありましたがそれはおいて置いておく事にします。

Ever since ‘Canned Laughter’ was announced via Whitey’s myspace we were slightly skeptical that it would happen, over the years many announcements of new Whitey material had either been horribly delayed or never happened at all and of course, it’s release date was also more than curious. Thankfully it all turned out to be true and within seconds we headed over to Amazon to purchase a copy! We were not dissapointed.

彼のマイスペースで’Canned Laughter’の発売がアナウンスされてからも本当に実現するんだろうか・・なんてちょっと疑ってたんですが、だって1年以上にも渡って言われ続けてきたリリースは遅れに遅れているのかもうなかった事になったのかもとか思い始めたりもしてやっぱり・・って期待も減ってきていました。所が、実際にリリースされちゃったじゃないの！みたいな感じで早速Amazonにて購入！しかもいい感じ！

‘Canned Laughter’ is a superb album, 10 tracks, you won’t skip any of them. When Whitey gave us permission to post a track it was quite difficult to choose one. Do we pick the electro-dancey slow building monster that is ‘Dinosaur’, the Loser’s National Anthem which is ‘The Up Sound For The Down People’, the cute n’ bitter ‘Liars, Vipers, Jokes And Fakes’ or the delightful ‘The Genius Of The Crowd’?! Argh! It was a hard choice! We eventually went for ‘And When Your Sun Goes Down You’ll know’  because we think it’s a great example of how unique of an artist Whitey is.

‘Canned Laughter’は10あるトラックの中でもスキップするのが全くなくて本当に素敵なアルバムです。Whiteyにトラック掲載許可を貰ったもののどれを選んでいいのかはかなり難しい選択でした。エレクトロでダンシーな’Dinosaur’を選ぶべきか、それとも負け組みのテーマ曲とでも言える’The Up Sound For The Down People’にすべきなのか、もしくはちょっと渋いけど可愛い’Liars, Vipers, Jokes And Fakes’、でも’The Genius Of The Crowd’も良いし・・とかなり悩んだんですけど結果として彼のユニークさが光っている’And When Your Sun Goes Down You’ll know’に大決定！
